Peace Officer of the Year
Since 1970, the State Lodge has recognized a member of the law enforcement profession as the Fraternal Order of Police, State Lodge of Michigan “PEACE OFFICER OF THE YEAR”. The award is bestowed upon a member of the law enforcement profession in recognition of their efforts that have brought credit and honor to the profession.
The requirements for nomination are:
- Criteria need not be for a single heroic act, but it may weigh In the final decision.
- The event must have occurred during the preceding calendar year.
- A complete letter detailing the reasons for the nomination.
- Include all pertinent reports, newspaper clippings or other information that may serve to highlight the Information on the nominee.
- A biographical sketch of the nominee, including personal and professional data.
- The nomination and accompanying material must be submitted to the State Office by May 1st.
