The Biennial FOP State Conference will be held June 22-24, 2018, at the Wyndham Gardens Hotel in Sterling Heights, Michigan.
This conference is hosted by Christopher M Wouters Lodge 124, Central Macomb Lodge 187 and Sterling Heights Lodge 118. These Lodges have been working hard to recruit corporate sponsors and donations to not only provide you with a great conference, but do it at minimal expense to the delegates.
The Conference will begin on Friday, June 22nd at 5:00 p.m. with our Opening Ceremony and Memorial Service which will take place at the Christopher M Wouters Lodge #124 located just about a mile from the hotel. Shuttle buses will be provided.
The First Business Session will begin on Saturday, June 23rd at 9:00 a.m. and the Second Business Meeting will be on Sunday, June 24th at 9:00 a.m.
LODGING – CUT-OFF DATE IS MAY 22, 2018
The Wyndham Garden Sterling Heights is located at 34911 Van Dyke Sterling Heights, Michigan 48312, Direct Line: 586-979-1400. The rate is $109.00 per night plus applicable taxes for single or double rooms. You may book on our website at www.mifop2018.com to get this rate, or you may book your rooms directly with Wyndham reservations at 586-979-1400 and mention you are part of the Michigan Fraternal Order of Police.
Hotel check-in time is 4:00 p.m. (early arrivals will be accommodated based on availability) and check-out time is 11:00 a.m.. There is a block of rooms being held for the Fraternal Order of Police so be sure to mention that in order to receive the special room rate and the cut-off date is MAY 22, 2018.
The hotel includes free wifi, free parking, and our group rate includes free access to the 5,000 square foot water park attached to the hotel.
DELEGATE REGISTRATION – DUE TO STATE LODGE BY JUNE 1, 2018
This year’s Delegate Fee is $50 which includes registration fee, delegate gift, dinner and hospitality on Friday, breakfast on both Saturday and Sunday and hospitality on Saturday Night.
OPENING CEREMONY/MEMORIAL SERVICE
As stated above, the Opening Ceremony/Memorial Service will be held on Friday, June 22nd, beginning at 5:00 p.m. All delegates are encouraged to wear uniforms for the Memorial Service. Please submit names of deceased members who have passed away since our last conference so they can be read during the Memorial Services (please indicate if they were Active or Associate members). Names must be submitted to the State Lodge by June 13th by calling the State Lodge at 517-367-8000, or e-mailing them to firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Opening Ceremony/Memorial Service will take place at the Christopher M Wouters Lodge #124 located just about a mile from the hotel. Shuttle buses will be running beginning at 3:30 p.m. and throughout the evening. Christopher M Wouters Lodge #124 will be dedicating their Public Safety Monument during this ceremony. Immediately following, Lodge #124 invites delegates to remain for an evening of dinner, drinks, and entertainment. Guest tickets can be purchased for $15 for this event but must be purchased in advance.
SOCIAL EVENT – SATURDAY, JUNE 23, 2018
On Saturday Night, we have an optional event, a baseball game between the Birmingham Beavers and the Utica Unicorns, part of the United Shore Professional Basement League. The first pitch is at 7:05 p.m. but gates open at 6:00 p.m. The cost of the ticket is $35 and includes transportation to and from the hotel, a ticket to the private left field party patio section which includes an all-inclusive buffet, unlimited soft drinks and water, 2 drink tickets per ticket, group raffle, on field photo, and more. The stadium is located in downtown Utica, about 10 minutes from the hotel. Shuttles will run continuously throughout the evening. Downtown Utica also features plenty of bars and restaurants all within walking distance of the stadium.
The Central Macomb Lodge #187 will be hosting a hospitality suite on Saturday for those who don’t want to attend the baseball game, or following the game. The exact times and location will be in your delegate packet upon your arrival.
Business sessions will begin at 9:00 a.m. on both Saturday and Sunday. Breakfast times will be posted when you register along with your ticket for breakfast each morning. Guest breakfast tickets may be purchased in advance for $15. The Board of Trustees’ Meeting will begin immediately following the conclusion of Sunday’s business session.
CREDENTIALS – WHITE COPIES DUE TO THE STATE LODGE BY JUNE 1, 2018
Credential forms will be mailed to lodge secretaries the latter part of May IF YOUR SECOND HALF OF 2018 PER CAPITA HAS BEEN PAID. In order to receive credentials, you MUST be a member in good standing which means your lodge Per Capita must be up to date. Lodge secretaries are to fill out Credentials forms and mail only the WHITE ORIGINALS back to the State Lodge by June 1st. Lodge secretaries are to give the yellow copy of the Credentials Form to the delegate. This copy must be submitted by the delegate when he/she registers at the Conference Registration Desk.
As always, any group wishing to conduct any type of raffle or sell FOP shirts, etc. at the Conference must have prior approval from the State Lodge.
JACK DANIELS COMMEMORATIVE BOTTLE
One of the official sponsors of this conference is Jack Daniels. As a result, the host Lodges are selling Jack Daniels Commemorative Single Barrel bottle, complete with engraving, gift box, and brass collar tag. The engraving will include the FOP Star, Christopher M Wouters Lodge 124, Central Macomb Lodge 187 and Sterling Heights Lodge 118 along with the date of the State Conference.
